O Infante - Altura, East Algarve
Location: Near Altura, on the main road from Tavira to Monte Gordo EN125.
This restaurant has a nice dinner room, with a wood ceiling and red velvet curtains. It has live music some evenings I don't know if every day or only on weekends) which aids to create ambiance.
Specialities:
Monkfish, Shrimp Kebab, Codfish, Leg of Lamb, Cataplana.
Cataplana - traditional Portuguese large pot full of shellfish and fish.
Many choices on the menu, including fish, seafood and meat dishes.

Fantastic restaurant, probably the best this side of the Algarve for quality of service, food, ambience and value for money. Never had a bad meal there! Try the grilled octopus (lulas), speciality lamb shank or steak with 3 sauces. Portions are generous...a word of warning...don't order a h'ors d'oevre if you would like to get through the entree!
